Yesterday Al Jazeera America published my latest article, a piece about what the deportation numbers don’t tell. I situate current deportation efforts within the longer history and argue that we should focus on the changing nature of deportation rather than the numbers. Deportations are not at an all-time high, but the way in which people are deported has never been so punitive.
